1988 BMW M5 - For Sale!

WBSDC9306J2791061
Build Date: 12/1986

I'm going to be moving to New York soon and I won't have the space to keep any of my cars,
so unfortunately they all have to go.

I thought that I would own this car for the rest of my life, and I'm really going to miss her, but the streets of Brooklyn is no place for an example this nice.

Email me if you are interested in taking a look.

Please don't ask about gas mileage!
This is not some crappy fuel-sipping econobox and it certainly isn't for you if you've EVER thought the Prius or Insight were good ideas! :)

When this car was built, it was the world's fastest production sedan and stock the motor put out 256Hp.

This engine was built from the ground up in late 2009 using a Euro M6 motor
as the foundation and has an estimated 340-350Hp!

I don't know for sure, as I've never had it dyno'd, but MM gives that estimate based on previous builds.
It will definitely put a huge smile on your face though.

I also replaced 90% of the suspension when it came back from getting the new motor.

  • Upper control arms
  • Lower Aluminum control arms
  • Bushings
  • Tie rods
  • Shocks/struts replaced with Bilstein Sports
  • Mounts (Shock and Strut)
  • The calipers were rebuilt and powdercoated red.
  • The brake hoses were also replaced with Stainless steel.

Pretty much the only things that were not replaced was the two big bushings on the rear subframe, wheel berrings and one brake hose (I have the SS replacement, but couldn't get the stock rubber one detached).

These photos were all shot 6-24-2010

Somewhere along the way, I lost the rear centercap...

Door ding just just under the rearview mirror

There is a weird stain (water damage maybe?)

The engine on this car was completely rebuilt by Metric Mechanic.

A shot of car before it received it's new Metric Mechanic motor. I know the car is filthy, but I wanted to get some current photos up on the site right away. Tomorrow I will wash and wax it.

Below are the shots that were in the ad when I first bought the car: The five spoke wheels I sold with the last M5.

Looking on eBay now.
Yep, you can see the hole in the
amber part of the lens in this shot.

These engines are a work of art!

I'm not sure about these wheels.
I think I like the BBS RX's better.

This weekend (11/2-11/4) I'll be out at Gateway instructing at a BMW Club Racing school. Hopefully I'll be able to get some nice shots of the new M5 with the race car! Watch for them here:
